Mieszczańskie mowy weselne ze Lwowa

Abstract

In the article, an analysis of a few wedding orations, preserved in manunscripts and obtained from Lwow rich bourgeoisie of the 17th century, has been conducted. Among them the so far unknown variations have been found: a speech delivered while the groom leads the bride out of the house and, an oration in which the groom requests for a permission to marry the bride, thus far documented only as an exemplary form. The most characteristic elements of the bourgeoisie speeches have been indicated: the introduction of the erotic theme, and references to welfare and morals of the society. An interesting trope of a relation to the literary culture of Russian lands is provided by the quotations from Sielanki of Szymon Szymonowic.
