Abstrakt: The composition presents linguistic images of children aged from 7 to 12 about chosen pieces of the surrounding world. The research has been carried out by means of the cognitive analysis, in which "semantic definitions of the word, which are to show [... ] the way in which the world is perceived by the language, must take into account a wide range of semantic ingredients" (Tokarski 1996: 99). The description of methodology and the material has been included in chapters first and second. Linguistic and cultural image of the world which has been reconstructed on the basis of authentic, creative texts of children relates to the four seasons of the year and cultural traditions (Santa Claus and Christmas). It shows how the children mould the observed phenomena (from their perspective) which is typical of them. The range of concepts chosen for the analysis is not random. It relates to those pieces of the imagined reality which are most willingly conceptualised by little creators. They have been selected by means of the statistic method and the theory of semantic (topical) fields (chapter third). The analysis of features in faset arrangement and collections related to different seasons shows that the young observer perceives the world in a different way (chapter fourth). The seasons receive active role in the scenes, which is reflected by applying for their names adequate positions in semantic-syntactic structures. Textual scenes are optimistic - the children observe changing seasons with joy. The texts also show strong position of means of illustration - the most characteristic of them are personification and anthropomorphisation. The image of cultural traditions mouldered by the children shows dissimilarity to their fixed equivalents (chapter fifth). The children reach for different stereotypes (from different cultures), which makes the images created by them internally incoherent - visions from different epochs and different cultures are neighbours in them. Considerable differences have been realised in the image of Santa Claus based on his stereotype, and only little differences in the image of Christmas. The analysis proves that children creating in the language images of the reality, shape them in their own way and show from their own perspective.
