Abstrakt: | Man, as a social being, is the object of the reactions of society, and at the same time is a subject
with the ability to transform the community. As an object he undergoes the process of socialisation;
as a subject he seeks his own autonomy escaping from the influences of the community. This process
of seeking self autonomy is manifested in validation of the system of moral norms. Empirical studies
conducted among 436 children attending the VIII (final) class of the elementary schools in Wroclaw
have indicated that the two basic moral norms (truthfulness and honesty) are universally accepted,
but their justification reveals a process of deviating from the official code and prosocial morality
towards situational morality dictated by one’s own feeling of self respect. Analysis of the influence of
certain distinguished types of families on the process of validation of norms indicated that relations
between these processes and types of families showing typically strong emotional ties with the child. |
