"Burzliwe życie Lejzorka Rojtszwańca" : funkcja i semantyka bohatera tytułowego

Abstract

In the novel Ilya Erenburg combines two modes of creating reality that had been characteristic for him in the 1920’s. On the one hand the structure of the protagonist makes BypHan xn3Hb... look like a picanesqeu novel; on the other hand it reads as a parable, owing to the use makes of Jewish culture and Biblical tradition. Having accepted the presence of these two novelistic genres, the present author was able to tackle the basic problems of philosophical anthropology and to place the novel within the long standing cultural tradition of laughter cum seriousness.
