Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to present the capital market as a financing opportunity for business activity. Alternative ways of obtaining financing are presented based on the example of an entrepreneur who conducts business as a stock company or stock limited liability company, and consequently may acquire the status of a public company, successively becoming a listed company e.g., on the Warsaw Stock Exchange S.A. The text consists of two parts, where the first part characterizes the public company as a participant in the capital market, and the second part defines the nature and scope of the functioning of the capital market in Poland, pointing to possible spheres of participation of the entrepreneur in the market.
