O granicach i ich przekraczaniu - w tradycji i we współczesnej refleksji genologicznej

Abstract

The author discusses the problem of typology of the text universum, reflecting on the long-lasting existence of the Classicist model based on logical assumptions, which combines the individuum-species-genos components into the hierarchical subjective system. Referring to the claims of the critics of the Enlightenment, the author suggests that already in the early modern taxonomy, the logical model was treated as a pattern, yet it was not used in practice. The author discerns similar attitudes among the contemporary representatives of the studies on genre and discourse. She argues that, in the light of conceptualization of both categories, the tendency to regard discourse as a category more important than that of a genre is unjustified (at least in the works written in Polish). She suggests that both the genre and the discourse should be extracted from the subjective relation and treated as interpretative frames of a text, which are simultaneously referred to in a communicative process (of text creation and reception). Thus, the genre and the discourse would remain in a system of horizontal relations. Additionally, the author opts for establishing two parallel typologies: the generic and the discursive one.
