Abstract

The article presents the most important – according to the author – directions of scientific, educational and organizational involvement of the members of the Katowice Branch of the PGS. An opportunity to look at the forms of activity of the Branch in Upper Silesia and in Zagłębie Dąbrowskie Region are the two jubilees of the Society, falling at the end of the past and the first half of this year. The method used in the study was the analysis of source materials, which included annual reports on the operations of the Katowice Branch and publications on its history as well as the scientific and promotional activity of its members. During the long years of its existence, Katowice Branch of PGS. was characterized by comprehensive, multidirectional activities carried out both on a regional and national scale, and various forms of involvement of its members, addressed to various groups of recipients.
