Ocena walorów widokowych drogi S1 [E75] na odcinku Częstochowa-Sosnowiec

Abstract

The article was written as a response to the intense process of construction of new highways and recon-struction and modernization of existing routes in Poland. Economic, environmental and spatial analyses are carried out prior to large road investments. While the scenic context of such investments has been neglected in Poland so far, European and American experience shows how important part scenic values may play for travelers. The authors call for designing new routes in a way which would be harmonious with the environment, so that these routes could expose scenic values rather than destroy and isolate them. To support that suggestion, detailed assessment of scenic values was carried out for a selected section of the Pan-European Road Transport Corridor, which runs south-north through Poland – Route S1 [E 75] in the Silesian Province at the Sosnowiec-Częstochowa section (67 km).
