Propozycja mikroregionalizacji województwa śląskiego – weryfikacja metody na wybranych mezoregionach

Abstract

This paper focuses on the current problem of revision and verification of the existing physicogeographical division of Poland through microregionalization of selected mesoregions of the Silesian Voivodship. Attempts made to carry out the microregionalization are related to the ongoing work on the preparation of landscape audits of voivodships. The authors diagnose the reasons behind the imperfections of the existing classification of the physicogeographical units while proposing the criteria and procedure for the microregionalization. Identifying microregions within four selected mesoregions (the Upper Warta Depression, Częstochowa Upland, Katowice Upland and Rybnik Plateau) is an attempt at verifying the accuracy of the existing physicogeographical division and a test of the proposed method The results reveal the vagueness of Poland's existing regional division and difficulties with interpretation of the microregionalization process.
