Orędzia noworoczne prezydentów Federacji Rosyjskiej w analizie semiotycznej

Abstract

The aim of this study is a linguistic analysis of the New Years’ addresses delivered by the Russian Federation’s presidents. The collected material comprises 25 years. The analysis concerns two addresses, the first of which comes from the year of gaining independence, and the second from 2015, nearly 25 years after this historic event. All spheres of life in Russia were tremendously influenced by factors that occurred within a very short period of time. These include the change of a political system, the freedom of expression, the re‑evaluation of previous systems of values, and the emergence of the free market. The article contains audiovisual material; hence, it was necessary to apply a semiotic analysis of text. In terms of evolution, the analysis demonstrated differences and similarities in the system of evaluation and ideological stance. These exponents were found on the level of verbal, iconic, proxemic, and gestural signs. The conducted studies of media text (audiovisual text) lie within the broadly understood research in text linguistics and discourse.
