Abstract

The article is devoted to a characteristic of a slang phraseology of the contemporary Russian language. On the example of idiomatic expressions belonging to a semantic field of work/laziness a semantic specificity of slang items under investigation was presented, as well as ways of forming them (a primary and secondary derivation) were analysed. The article claims that the main aim of using a slang phraseology in a didactic process is to enrich students’ knowledge about Russian understood as a constantly evolving system, and draw conclusions on a Russian society and its system of value on the basis of linguistic data.
