Abstract

The author proves the need to analyse foreign texts and contexts of foreign language teaching in order to describe the linguistically oriented glottodidactic discourse of the interwar period. The analysis is based on the foreign literature reading list entitled Biblioteka ucznia and published in Poradnik w sprawach nauczania i wychowania oraz administracji w szkołach ogólnokształcących (volume V, issue 5/11) in Warsaw in 1933. Referring to the short reviews that Biblioteka ucznia contains, the article author discusses the didactic goals (practical, cognitive, educational). She also considers the context of Polish studies as well as the didactic and pluralist context of foreign language teaching and refers to the problem of evaluation and persuasiveness of this reading list.
