| Abstract: | The article presents genesis, semantics and pragmatics of the title of the most important Christian prayer and its history in some European languages: Latin, Polish, Czech, German and English. The author of the article observes the process of desacralization and the interesting phenomena in between sacrum and profanum, spiritual and material elements. It describes a European community of spirit documented by the lexis evolution. |
