Demotywacyjne aspekty religijności w Polsce : rozważania w kontekście aktywności społeczno-politycznej obywateli

Abstract

The directions of analysis of the relationship between religiousness and the activity of citizens are outlined by two research paths. On the one hand, it is a mobilising role, strengthening citizens’ competences and increasing citizens’ sense of responsibility. On the other hand, religiousness can play a role that is demotivating and mitigating the socio-political involvement of the individual, which is the subject of this article. The analysis concerns three fundamental areas. The first is the catalyzing of social activity by a religious group, which closes the individual to activities not directly related to religion. The second is the specific system of meanings generated by the religious sphere, which makes it less pragmatic and less activating. The third area of consideration is the category of religious identity, whose power subordinates other identities accepted by an individual during his or her life, eliminating the activity within their frames.
