Abstract

Taking up the extremely important for international relations issue of the importance of the Middle East region in the global scale, as well as the role it played over the centuries in the foreign policy of the most important actors of the international arena (Great Britain, France, Russia and finally the United States), one should conduct a thorough analysis of the concept itself. The literature on the subject, both in Polish and foreign languages, is dominated by a clear linguistic and geographical diversity in the identification of the Middle East. The category of the Middle East takes on a contractual dimension, and the borders of the Middle East region cannot be precisely defined.
