Abstract: Personality is one of the factors potentially influencing an ethical aspect of human actions. The features of that kind in the currently most popular theory of a “Big Five” are rather skipped. The very gap is filled in by a newer and six-factor personality model introducing a dimension ofhonesty. Most frequently, however, the influence of personality dispositions on an ethical side ofdecisions and behaviours is investigated by means of using individual features taken from the contextof a “full” personality, such as integrity, dispositional altruism, empathy, interest and socialresponsibility, the sense of justice, or a “Dark Triad” of personality: Machiavellianism, subclinicalpsychopathy and narcissism. Out of these traits, Machiavellianism seems to be most useful wheninvestigating personality conditions of unethical behaviours. The article presents an overview of studies on the relations between Machiavellianism andunethical actions, as well as ways of dealing with problems and dangers evoked by machiavellianindividuals in a social life in higher schools and organizations as proposed by the researchers.
