dc.description.abstract	The author organizes definitions of journalism in the context of functional and theoretical conceptions. He reminds us of its tripartite conceptualization: as the science on journalism, and academic studies, as well as a practical activity of a given group of people. The article shows a position and prestige of journalism in the contemporary society in the normative, public and media product, as well as journalist routine contexts. The author looks for an answer to the question on a paradigm of today’s journalism: the science, profession and functioning in the society.	pl_PL
