Biblioterapeutyczna działalność śląskich bibliotek na przykładzie Biblioteki Śląskiej w Katowicach i Miejskiej Biblioteki Publicznej w Zabrzu

Abstract

The article raises the issues from the scope of bibliotherapy and reading of the handicapped. The main thread of considerations is the activity of libraries in favour of the blind and hard of hearing. The author discusses modern forms of the access to a written word and various forms of text therapy. A library statistics of the so called “spoken book” which underwent a thorough analysis, allows for noticing reading interests and needs of this particular group of users. Experiences of work of different types of libraries in favour of equal chances for the handicapped in their access to information and cultural integration constitute the basis of conclusions drawn.
