Ponowoczesny indywidualizm jako źródło nietrwałości więzi rodzinnych i dezintegracji rodziny

Abstract

In the modern society a proceeding process of individualization, being one of the main symptoms of post‑modernism, is noticeable. The individuals carry out a kind of emancipation project, which often enough includes the desire to emancipate from stable family ties. An individualized individual — within the framework of its self‑realization — does not merely claim for the connection with a specified society and creation of the selected institution. The above mentioned claims cover the right to resign from the chosen “path” at any time without any social consequences. This matter also concerns the issue of the family life. From this perspective the permanence of the ties — which used to distinguish the family life — is often enough identified as a kind of ties limiting a given individual. An individual focused on the self‑realization, wants to decide (and in the end decides) on the level of engagement to the family life by itself. It is possible thanks to alternative forms of marital and family life, which are usually impermanent. This phenomenon is connected with the uprooting of the family life from tradition and transformation of traditional (stable) family ties. This is favoured by the fact that the individuals directed towards each other cease to be the agendas of social control which used to contribute to the stability of family ties. Their breakdown as well as the resultant interruptions of socialization process, lead to the disintegration of the family.
