dc.description.abstract | The subject of the article is the division of space in the Islam culture, in the
example of Maghrebian societies. At the beginning, the author discusses Pierre
Bourdieu’s theory resulting from the analysis of traditional society of Kabyle
Berbers. Then she broaches the subject of the changes taking place in the Maghreb
in the twentieth century described and analyzed in the book La femme
dans l’inconscient musulman by Fatima Mernissi (pseudonym Fatna Aït Sabbah).
How these changes looked in practice, we learn by examples provided by the
literature. Many maghrebian writers tackle this issue and present the history
of female protagonists, already emancipated or trying to get out of the social
bonds which disturb them, crossing the border between what is closed and
private and what is open and public, amongst others: Leïla Marouane, Bahaa
Trabelsi and Fawzia Zouari. Finally the presented issues are confronted with
the situation of women in other parts of the Arabic world, specifically with the
contemporary Muslim women fight for freedom. | pl_PL |
