Abstract

More and more rapid changes caused by an unusual progress of knowledge and techniques occur in the contemporary world. Everything is happening at the accelerated speed. There is no time for rest and reflection. The ideology of consumerism increases needs and forces hunts for profit. Artificial, rather than natural clocks determine the pace of our life. Laminar processes are transformed into turbulent ones. We live in the turbo-world. It is characterized by increasing changeability, uncertainty, unpredictability and chaos. We have fallen into the trap of the acceleration. Ecology of time, a new discipline of eco-philosophy, gives hope for getting out of this trap. Its aim is to free people from the captivity of the artificial time and restore the natural time. Therefore the principle of acceleration should be replaced by the principle of deceleration.
