Abstract

The article registers tendencies to employ particular linguistic means of evaluation observed among politicians. The research material consisted in TV interviews with Russian politicians. The attractiveness of this type of an interview comes from the viewer’s impression of an unfalsified, direct contact with someone known, an expert in a given field. This fosters greater trust towards the words uttered by the interviewed figure and inclines the audience to internalize the communicated opinions. The examples referenced in my paper prove the thesis that evaluation is inextricably linked to the political discourse and remains in direct relationship with the notion of persuasion.
