Abstract

The author of the article ponders over the memory category concerning past events, connected with important historical events and characters-legends. An example of such a phenomenon is Reduta Ordona by Adam Mickiewicz, popular at school, where canonical interpretations emphasize peculiar author’s distortion concerning a death of a national hero. The article is an attempt to read that well-known poem in a different way. It is based on the assumption that Ordon’s death is not inscribed into the text. It results just from the interpretation of fictional “missing pieces” of the text.
