Abstrakt: | Conditioned by political changes to be first observed after the events of 1989, the process of
changes the theatrical life undergoes currently at the Polish-Czech borderline in the region of
Cieszyn Silesia, is realized both at the organizational, artistic and financial level. The forms of
theatrical activity, practiced in the region of Cieszyn Silesia and undergoing the very process of
changes involve the National Theatrical Festival “Bez Granic”, the activity of Czech Silesian repertoire
of Těšínského divadla (the theatre of two autonomous groups: Czech and Polish stage)
with the newest initiative — The Festival of Thetares of Morawy and Silesia and the activity of
a management Adam Mickiewicz Theatre in Cieszyn. The awareness of the necessity of changes
in the organizational structure and popularizing activity of both theatres resulted in a common
Polish-Czech project “Teatr Mostem / Divadlo Mostem”. The bridges of culture also include
occasional international theatrical enterprises realized at the borderline and in the border town.
A primary function of the borderline theatre in is the integrative function: the theatre of the
Polish-Czech borderline crossing the borders of a divided town becomes the part of the social
process of solving the consequences of the division of Cieszyn Silesia from 1920, eliminates mental barriers, questions (national, social and cultural stereotypes), promotes the town and its region. Its primary aim is to build bridges of understanding and liking beyond nations. The mission of the borderline theatre is “To be in Europe and Union”. |
