Janina Podlodowska - poetka Ziemi Rybnickiej

Abstract

Janina Podlodowska belongs to the circle of poets and organisers of a literary life in Rybnik land. Born in Kraków, she spent all her life in Silesia as a secondary school teacher, mainly in Liceum Pedagogiczne in Rybnik. She educated many teachers of Polish. Being active in cultural activity, she cocreated literary groups, e.g. “Kontakty”, coorganised Rybnickie Dni Literatury. She published seven volumes of poetry. Recently, her poetry has been reedited in a bibliophilic edition entitled W imię róży. The article presents the literary output of the poet, placing her in the circle of Silesian elites-humanists referring to classical literary programmes. Besides, she created a beautiful tradition of promoting teacher writers, making contacts with the literary movement in Cieszyn Silesia.
