Teksty zalecające z perspektywy teorii wymowy i w praktyce : ujęcie Jana Kwiatkiewicza

Abstract

The aim of this article is to acquaint the readers with the notion of recommendatory texts from a viewpoint of both theory and writer’s practice in neo‑Latin literature. The pivot of considerations herein are the erstwhile popular, yet today little known, works by Jan Kwiatkiewicz published in Poland as well as abroad over the years 1672–1720, which approximately provides the timeframe and spatial, as well as societal, scope of impact that this author’s thought had upon audience. Preliminary research conducted amongst the works referred to in the article allows to indicate the collection of renowned and applicable norms relating to recommendatory texts in the place and over the time period in question, and also to pinpoint the emergence of innovation championed by Kwiatkiewicz. The readers shall take note of the fact that Kwiatkiewicz’s viewpoint is authoritative in relation to the extensive body of literature of the above‑mentioned period, which also applies to the slightly later period, and therefore, as influential in our cultural space, should be included into research concerning among others the rhetoric of the then recommendatory texts.
