| Abstrakt: | The chapter discusses citation indexes, which are a type of bibliographic databases
that in addition to the standard elements of the bibliographic description store also a
bibliography attached to each article. It also describes Web of Science - a system of databases
created by Thomson Reuters, comprising the three main citation indexes: Science
Citation Index, Social Sciences Citation Index and Arts & Humanities Citation Index.
It shows the possibility of using this type of database in bibliometric and scientometric
research and discusses Polish citation indexes: the Torun Citation Index of Polish Sociology,
the Polish Humanistic Literature „Arton” and the database „CYTBIN”. |
