Abstract: | Theology as an academic discipline leads to wisdom recognized ultimately
as the cognition of God himself and granted by his own grace. A holistic worldview
facilitating the quest for the Truth is the ultimate aim of wisdom-oriented
theology. This in turn can be achieved by the way of integrating human knowledge, together with seeking answers to metaphysical questions and moving
beyond pure rationality, that is, the opening of one’s intellect to faith and the
revelation it can bring. It is theology as scientia sui generis that can claim an
equal status with other academic disciplines, to which it serves as a reminder
of the limited nature of human cognition. Wisdom is a gift from the Holy
Spirit, so that to have it one should not rely on the amount of knowledge to
be acquired, but instead open up to God and convert one’s heart to his path. |
