Abstract: This article analyses the reasons of the tou-rist attractiveness of the Indian city of Chandigarh. The city is the last creation of the Swiss architect Le Corbusier, which seems to be the key reason behind its attractiveness and creates a sense of it being a "show of architectural bravado". Modernist city designs from around the world have failed as good places to live and work except for Chandigarh. Tourists come here to admire the city's modernist buildings and its urban planning, but also the way the inhabitants of the city adapted Le Corbusier's vision to suit their needs. Currently, Chandigarh has the highest standard of living among all of the cities in India.
