| Abstract: | The present outline is an interpretation of a poem by Stanisław Barańczak the aim of which is to demonstrate the entanglement of senses activated by the idiom used in the title. In the poem we find an internal rivalry between the metaphoric sense contained in the said idiom (“to face the truth”), and non-metaphorical, original meaning resulting from the sequence of the particular words. The background of the interpretation is provided by the philosophy of the dialogue represented by Buber, Levinas, and Marion. The author reveals an Orwellia |
