Abstract: The text is an interpretation of Stanisiaw Barahczak’s Poem Powiedz, że wkrótce. The interpretation wants to show that arrival at the senses of the poem becomes possible only through its sound layer. The author analyses the instrumentation devices and the sound function of the rhymes, and, making use of the works of R. Jakobson and M. Raymond, defines the phenomenon of hypotyphosis: the instrumentation of Powiedz, że wkrótce phonically reifies "death, though the word itself is not used in the poem. The reading of the moral problems in the sound layer becomes the condition enabling the reading of those textual elements - included both in the presented world and in the ¡conically understood structure (U. Eco, Ch. Morris) - which together constitute the semantic field of death. The euphony of the character of hypostasis noticed by the author allow the author to call S. Barahczak's Powiedz, że wkrótce a sound miniature according to G. Bachelard's terminology.
