Socjologiczne uwarunkowania problemów zadowolenia z pracy i rozwoju zawodowego bibliotekarzy

Abstract

Librarians are specifi c social and professional category, which is involved in the development of the information society. The aim of this article is to analyze the sociological aspects and determinants of job satisfaction and professional development of librarians. The presented analyses are based on empirical quantitative research carried out at the beginning of 2015 among that group. The studies have a particular goal, therefore they are not representative for the whole socio-professional category in the province of Silesia. Nevertheless, the results allow to describe the problems of their most active representatives. The results are shown with the background of selected theoretical concept of job satisfaction and professional development. Among the discussed issues, the approach to the job satisfaction and perceived opportunities of career paths seem particularly interesting. Due to the complexity of analyzed problems it is only a pre approximate survey, but it is certainly worth further investigation, as librarians can be considered a specifi c category of guides in the modern world, where the information is becoming increasingly important to succeed in many different aspects of life.
