Abstract

A manuscript map made in 1850 depicting the Sielec area, especially the territory that nowadays belongs to Sosnowiec, belongs to the Library of Faculty of Earth Sciences’ collection at the University of Silesia. It is a precious historical source as a testimony of land development and source of information about localization of the buildings and roads in the second half of XIX century. The work includes descriptions of designations used on the map, detailed reports of Sielec territory, its history and its comparison to contemporary districts of Sosnowiec.
