Abstrakt: This paper presents the terminology related to e-learning and emphasizes the development of the e-learning technologies (blended learning, m-learning, rapid learning, social learning and gamifi cation). The author then analyzes the research reports on e-learning in Poland and the literature that concerns the matter. The results of the research carried out in 2011 and 2012 has indicated academic education and business as the two main sectors interested in e-learning. The paper draws special attention to e-learning at Polish universities. It also analyzes the topics of recent articles published in books and reviews that concern e-learning. The conclusion is that the most frequently taken up topics were: the need for distance education and its characteristics, various types of education platforms, didactical materials and web tools, practical examples of the introduction of e-learning in Poland and prospects for the future.
