Abstract

Contemporary social sphere is a space where cultural meetings take place. The presence of „the other” has become an obvious fact. Taking this into account, it is necessary to pose a question, if in the times of modernity and globalization, multiculturalism becomes rather a chance for an individual and the society or possibly causes more danger? What advantages of multiculturalism are noticed by young people and what makes them afraid of it? The theoretical assumption of the undertaken examinations is based on the concept of multiculturalism that was created by Jerzy Nikitorowicz. The empirical data that was fundamental for the dissertation was collected through a diagnostic survey involving a questionnaire. The result of the examination clearly shows, that the group of respondents sees more chances of building multicultural society than of occurring dangerous situations generated by it.
