Gustave Guillaume, un cognitiviste a son insu

Abstract

The article contains some reflexions at the crossroads of psychomechanics and cognitive linguistics. Its aim is to demonstrate that G. Guillaume's ideas are cognitive in this sense that his conception of language refers to a process of thinking, the effect of which is manifested in the way the sentence is constructed. The confrontation of the main analysis tools proposed by G. Guillaume (the notion of idea in power) and the principles of cognitive linguistics, especially the cognitive grammar of R. Langacker (imagery) leads to observation that there are similarities between these two approaches, but also the differences in the vision of language and the role of its users.
