Abstract

The Representative Orchestra of AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków is a group of AGH University of Science and Technology students and graduates, as well as students from other college in Kraków, whose formation was accompanied by an idea of honouring college events and broadening the students’ interests. It functions thanks to the support of the college authorities. The number of people willing to play was growing from the very beginning to reach 45 members today. The repertoire, apart from the march compositions performed mainly when honouring numerous college ceremonies, consists in above all light and movie music. The orchestra participates in numerous musical events in Kraków, as well as concert and festival events in Poland and abroad, gaining various awards. They have also released two records. The orchestra is characterised by self-government and youth enthusiasm while the instrumentarium and repertoire range still increase.
