Abstrakt: The author shows aesthetic values from the perspective of general upbringing and educational assumption. She pays attention to a cultural aspect of the aesthetic education. The aesthetic values shape and change depending on the quality of their reception, which is influenced by the level of an individual development, the conditions of its life and aesthetic awareness in an educational system. The principles of aesthetic education formulated by Stefan Szuman, i.e. availability, popularization and accessibility of art that were important in the social aesthetic education were referred to. Currently, in the era of the globalization of values, including aesthetic values, a special role is ascribed to the teacher who teaches how to judge social and artistic phenomena of young people. The teacher should be characterized by an axiological maturity, which allows for shaping critical, independent, reflective and creative attitudes in students. Educating towards art changes its shape because the system of values changes, but the main idea of the aesthetic education and education in art direction, the aim of which is developing an integrated person of the learner sensitive to the problems of the world, people and their artistic products should still be remembered about.
