Abstract

The essay is an attempt to describe the unknown phenomenon, hidden behind the walls of a contemplative monastery, which consists in using the hunting discourse to express love or mystical relation. The anonymous author of the analysed text uses hunting phraseology that was commonly applied, thus, showing its attractiveness, universality and the problems with naming the metaphysical experience. Her poems, stylistically unrefined, have been treated as an evidence for a particular state of mind and as a document that allows for a glimpse into the specific character of the Carmelite nuns’ closed world.
