Abstract

In the present article, the author discusses the way colloquial narrations become part of the flow of conversation. The question has been raised of how, in colloquial narratives (which are often the effect of the co-operation between the speaker and the hearer), the dialogical situation pushes the action of a given story forward, or contributes to the rise of time shifts (with the backward movement). The author shows the cases of slowing down the course of events, that is of retardation, which is caused by introducing too numerous, or excessively elaborate descriptions, or by including direct quotations from the characters’ monologues or conversations.
