| Abstrakt: | The enlightened men of the world, distressed with boredom often resorted to entertainment. To increase the variety of games they began make the serious realms of life more ludic. This process spread also across the military domain with games-battles Karol Stanislaw Radziwiłł fought ‘sea-battles’ on Albenia ponds. 25-year- -old Julian Ursyn Niemcewicz engaged in ‘sand and lump-of-earth’ battles with young Adam and Konstanty Czartoryski. Finally, king Stanisław August set out on an invasion of a Vistula island to take Amazon-aristocrates prisoner. In reality, the true military actions did not bring Radziwiłł, Niemcewicz and Stanisław August success. They were more successful in staging battles than fighting them. |
