The role of religion in socio-cultural processes : on the example of Upper Silesia

Abstract

Adapting the sociological perspective in studies on religious belief necessarily involves stressing the confirmatory function of religion in the face of the social world. From very early times religion has been the most effective and widely used instrument for self-validation of man’s place in the world. The historical role that religion plays in the legitimising processes results from its unique ability to establish the phenomenon of human existence in the cosmic firmament. (fragment tekstu)
