| Abstrakt: | The article investigates the usage of female occupation terms in English by discussing a sample of terms denoting female physicians attested in the COCA corpus. Differences are examined between connotations of synonymous Sex+Profession compounds, such as woman doctor and lady doctor. The issue is considered whether such N+N combinations should be treated as appositional compounds or as attributive compounds |
