Lokacje miejskie na obszarze Polski : dokumentacja geograficzno-historyczna

Abstract

This paper composed a geographic-historic cataloguing of municipal locations on the present Polish territory for eight hundred years. 18 features related to a stage of origin and further development of 1829 localities, which whenever obtained a town status, were categorized in the tables. Cataloguing was made on basis of such issues as: geographic situation of a localized locality, historic genesis (moment of origin, possible legal degradation), functional genotype (general functional type of a centre in a moment of origin), as well as demographic size for 5 different periods. The work’s author used the ample set of elaborations within the problem scope. The bibliography covered only about 3000 most important publications from nearly 5000 ones, which were basis of the list structure. Considering the geographic-historic character of the elaboration, problems appearing during determination of some features were shown; they resulted mainly from source reduction. 1'he aim of this work was such material composition to enable possible comparisons and further analyses of the urbanization process on the present Polish territory. Variety of catalogued issues and different periods allowed to make analyses - both of dynamic and spatial nature. It was assumed that the work should be a supplementary source for all interested in development of the Polish towns and wide understood process of urbanization.
