Abstract

In search for the markers of psycho-social condition of contemporary youth The authoress focuses on theoretical analyzing the constitutive elements of psycho-social condition of contemporary youth, as well as on indicating its major empirical markers. The results of the research into this issue indicate that the higher the self-esteem and the belief in one’s own ability to control events in the environment (and one’s own place in it) are, the stronger engagement occurs, and resourceful and task strategies appear more frequently. In the field of the young’s mental condition, a lot of maturity can be observed in creating their own resourcefulness in situations and tasks. This can be confirmed by numerous responses concerning: creative ways of searching for information, searching for work, strategies in managing interesting offers which allow to develop one’s own creation, entrepreneurship, and the gradual acquisition of independence. The fears young people experience concern their start into independence and the satisfaction from the career they have chosen after leaving school. They are natural phenomena – a kind of verification of personal standards, preferred and implemented values, and the plans for the future. Young people declare satisfaction from their temporal location - they experience the pleasure of acquiring knowledge, and most of all, the pleasure of broadening their mental horizons in their own social group, with which they identify and in which they feel safe.
