Abstract

In the article a process of social and economic transformations was presented as well as potential directions of urban development. Czeladz has undergone a radical transformation from an industrial city to a service centre. Those changes have not brought proportional financial benefits for the citizens and the local authorities yet. An opportunity for Czeladz can be suburbanization processes taking place within this area. Central location, good transport availability and open space allotted for construction give Czeladz an opportunity to become an attractive place of residence.
