Abstract

Modern culture education should involve development of moral and civil values, which have been recognized as the major areas of its activity since 1990s. Consequently, a cultured man, who is a part of model empirical space where the practice of culture education is realized, should be characterized by civil approach and being interested in the world matters and the local environment. The paper examines an educational programme, which aims to develop such values and thisthe theatrical 2005/2006 season and named “the theatre which works”. The participation in this programme enables both spectators and actors to acquire the broad competencies in the field of historical awareness, cultural identity including regionalism as its founding element. The programme is being implemented during such performances as Testament Teodora Sixta (Theodor Six’s Will 2006), Żyda (Jew’s, 2008), Bitwę o Nangar Khel (Nangar Khel Battle 2011) by Artur Pałyga and Miłość w Königshüte (Love in Königshüte) by Ingmar Villqist. The programme is formed during the public debates on performances, whose participants come from the educational institutions in Silesian Region, those who implement culture education as well as the workers in the public cultural centres and institutions in the Silesian County. civil approach.
