Some problems concerning a uniform analysis of reflexive verbs

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to examine some recent proposals concerning the transformational derivation of selected structures involving reflexive pronouns. Special emphasis will be laid on those (classes of) sentences in which the functioning of reflexive pronouns, their clitic forms or bound morphemes does not seem to allow for analyses designed to cope with English reflexive phenomena in various versions of transformational generative grammar.
