Abstract

The People’s Republic of China and the Republic of India are the two most important “emerging powers,” the most populous countries in the world, military and economic powers, and age‑old civilizations that have become states. Their relationship constitutes a complex of cooperation and competition that goes beyond the Asian continent and becomes more and more important in the context of changes in the entire international order, and in particular the transition of power from the West to the East. The thesis posed in this study is that there are significantly more elements of competition in mutual relations than cooperation. Moreover, it is difficult to expect that this situation will change in the short and medium term.
