Abstract

Service in the police is not only paid work – it is, above all, a mission that aims to ensure the order and safety of the entire society. Due to the difficulty of the role and the tasks it appoints, in addition to satisfaction and pride, police work entails many negative consequences, which affect not only the police officers but also their families. In such a situation, it is difficult to keep a balance between the personal and professional life. The aim of this article is to analyze the results of research concerning selected factors of service in the police force which have a negative impact on officers and their families. At the same time positive aspects of service in the police force will be indicated.
